MRI Safety Week is a time to recognize the professionals, practices, and innovations that contribute to safer MRI environments for patients, staff, and visitors.
At Metrasens, we believe MRI safety is strengthened through education, shared experiences, and meaningful data. Throughout the week, we’ll be sharing educational resources, interactive activities, and opportunities to engage with the MRI safety community.
Whether you’re an MRI Technologist, Radiology Leader, MRSO, MRSE, Medical Physicist, or passionate about MRI safety, we invite you to participate, explore the activities below, and join the conversation.
MRI Safety Week Activities
Help shape the industry’s understanding of MRI safety by participating in the MRI Safety Insights 2026 Survey. Your input will contribute to a benchmark report examining current practices, challenges, trends, and priorities across MRI programs worldwide.
Everyone who completes the survey will receive complimentary access to the MRI Safety Insights 2026 Report, to be published at the end of 2026, providing valuable insights into the evolving state of MRI safety.
The Hidden Hazard: An MRI Safety Escape Challenge is a 15–20 minute team game created for MRI Safety Week. Players investigate a simulated near-miss, work through five interactive puzzle rooms, recover clue words, and uncover how a ferromagnetic item nearly reached Zone IV. Designed for 2–5 teammates, the game encourages discussion around screening, handoffs, equipment triage, pattern recognition, and workflow visibility.
Join Alan Heffron and James Wingfield as they explore how operational data can provide new visibility into MRI safety performance, support continuous improvement initiatives, and help organizations move from reactive incident reporting toward proactive risk management.
Explore a curated collection of educational resources, expert presentations, webinars, articles, and practical guidance covering key topics in MRI safety.
Featured topics include:
• Screening best practices
• MRI safety culture
• Ferromagnetic detection
• Workflow optimization
• Emerging trends in MRI safety
• Lessons learned from the field

Why MRI Safety Week Matters
MRI remains one of healthcare’s most powerful diagnostic tools, but maintaining a safe MRI environment requires ongoing vigilance, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
MRI Safety Week serves as a reminder that safety extends beyond policies and procedures. It is built through education, operational excellence, informed decision-making, and a commitment to learning from both successes and near misses.
By sharing knowledge, engaging in meaningful conversations, and embracing data-driven approaches, we can continue advancing MRI safety practices and supporting better outcomes for patients, staff, and healthcare organizations worldwide.
We invite you to participate throughout the week and join us in helping shape the future of MRI safety.
