An incident at a UK hospital, where Metrasens was giving an early demonstration of our Ferroguard MRI safety system, results in a life being saved.

A nine-year-old girl taken into the MRI for a head scan, complained of extreme pain around her nose before the test started. The Ferroguard system detects a strong ferrous signal from the girl. As a result, an x-ray is requested to investigate. This reveals the girl had two magnets, from a toy, stuck up her nose. Attraction of the magnets would have been likely to have caused significant injury, or worse, if the MRI scan had been performed.

Metrasens wins the inaugural iAward for Cross Application of Technology. The UK government award was launched to celebrate the best of British science, innovation and technology and is supported by a range of leading business figures.

Metrasens launch Ferroguard Screener, the world’s first – and still the most sensitive – whole-body ferromagnetic detection system for MRI safety, detecting risk items that other systems just miss.

Our world-leading Cellsense® product is launched and quickly adopted by prisons across the USA and beyond as they fight against the smuggling and use of mobile phones and other contraband items. Due to our fast-growth we move to new expanded facilities in both Malvern, UK and Lisle, Illinois, USA.

Cellsense® Plus is launched, providing corrections facilities with superior an unrivalled contraband and cell phone detector. The new product incorporates a more rugged design and builds on the original Cellsense product which, by 2015, is already used in 38 countries. 2015 also sees us win an innovation award from the Institute of Physics.

An unfortunate death at a NHS mental health facility led Metrasens to develop Proscreen 200™, providing behavioral health and mental health facilities with the capability to perform an unobtrusive full body screening.

2016 also marks the launch of the MRI Safety Manager™ module as part of the Ferroguard Assure system – revolutionising FMDS for MRI Safety. For the first time MRI facilities are provided with simple, comprehensive analytics and reporting enabling data-driven management of safe working practices.

We’re honoured to have won The Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the category of International trade in 2017. The UK’s premier business award is recognition for our international growth with revenue growing by over 400% over the past 6 years and 95% of this coming from international markets.

Metrasens appear in the 4th annual Sunday Times Lloyds SME Export Track 100 league table which ranks Britain’s companies with the fastest-growing international sales.

We also won the prestigious Queen’s Award For Enterprise for the second consecutive year, this time in the category of Innovation for our unique ferromagnetic detection systems.
