Playing a Small Part in Keeping Heroes Safe

For 2021 National Correctional Officers Week, Metrasens employees were asked to reflect on their careers and personal stories that demonstrate their commitment to keeping officers safe.

I have spent the last 22 years of my career in the physical security screening space, concentrating on the deployment of right-fit technologies for the purpose of keeping people safe from those with bad intentions.  It may sound cliché, but what started as a job in this area has turned into a passion.  No matter the agency, whether federal, state, or local levels of law enforcement, I have admired your choice to lead the mission to make sure safety and well-being are at the forefront of our communities.  No man or woman left behind, and everyone at home with their families each night.  Know that Metrasens shares in this mission and it is driving our technology development and our focus as a partner to this industry to provide the best tools for you to carry out this mission safely and effectively.

Across my career I have been involved in security for critical infrastructure, government, military, aviation, and emergency response.  I have learned what is important for my customers, both professionally and personally, in how they view safety, and the role screening plays.  Over the past 6 years, I have applied that knowledge, and gained new insights, in working in the corrections market.  All of you in corrections put yourselves between the bad guys and all of us in the public, and in my book that makes you heroes.  I’m proud that I get to play a small part in helping to keep you heroes safe, and it gives me purpose in what I do every day.

Metrasens has uniquely positioned itself, beyond technology, with a level of understanding of the corrections market that I firmly believe is unrivaled.  We have made it our jobs to understand who you are as individuals, what you do in your jobs and the challenges that presents, how you perform those duties each and every day, and why you are committed to your profession.  This puts us in a position to partner with you and collaborate on ideas for where we can best contribute to your success.  There are really a finite number of organizations that are focused on developing technology primarily for the corrections industry, and I am glad we are one of them.

During National Correctional Officers Week 2021, and all year long, I want to thank all of you in uniform for your service and commitment to keeping our communities safe.  Know that we are, and always will be, here to serve you in any way we can.
