FerroGuard^® Pre-screening & Portable System

Metrasens’s FerroGuard^® Pre-screen and Portable Screening System can be set to extremely high sensitivity in order to detect ferrous objects as small as a hair pin. The system would typically be deployed in the interview or changing room area. It can be used to quickly scan the patients for small ferrous objects e.g. coins, keys, hairpins etc as well as common objects such as phones and belt buckles which they can then leave behind in the locker room prior to entering the MRI room. As well as reducing the likelihood of small projectile incidents, the system will also reduce the chance of having to repeat an MRI scan e.g. due to the presence of a hairpin distorting the MRI scan image. Ideally the system will be used in conjunction with the FerroGuard^® Wall Mounted System located at the MRI entrance to stop a ferromagnetic object being inadvertently taken into the MRI room. The two stage approach maximises the safety whilst minimising annoying false alarms.

The FerroGuard^® Portable System is a high sensitivity, highly flexible system designed for a range of applications from hospitals, university research facilities and industrial environments. It is a compact and lightweight system, which can be transported easily and set up by a single operator. The system can be deployed within 5 minutes and runs off either battery power or can be plugged into a mains supply.

 

Applications Include:

• Pre-screening of the patients or friends and relatives prior to entering the controlled MRI zone
• Deployment in a facility when untrained workers/cleaners/VIPs are visiting.
• Rapid deployment into a facility following a projectile incident to increase safety whilst a longer term safety procedures can be implemented
• Temporary deployment by engineers outside MRI rooms whilst installation and maintenance work is being carried out.
• Deployment outside mobile MRI units.
