Metrasens creates highly innovative medical devices by exploiting its core patented metal detection technologies to improve safety and decrease costs in hospitals. Metrasens was founded by a team of three pioneering world experts in the field of magnetic detection, Dr Simon Goodyear, Mr Matthew Wooliscroft, and Dr Mark Keene. The team have over 100 academic publications and patents with over 50 years cumulative experience in magnetics research and product development.

Our Ferroguard products are designed to substantially increase safety in hospital MRI facilities. There are currently over 27,000 MRI facilities worldwide, and MRI is increasingly being used in healthcare diagnosis. Ferroguard systems alert staff to the presence of ferromagnetic objects before they are inadvertently taken into the MRI suite. Such objects will be strongly attracted, often with unstoppable force, into the magnet if they are taken into the magnet room. Our award winning Ferroguard products were invented as a direct result of an accident in which a 6 year old child died as a result of injuries sustained in an MRI machine. The child was struck on the head by a steel gas cylinder travelling at high speed into the machine, after it was accidentally brought into the MRI room.
