Metrasens is a creator of innovative medical devices exploiting its core patented metal detection technology to improve safety and decrease costs in hospitals. It has developed two innovative product lines. The first product, named FerroGuard, is designed to increase safety for hospital MRI facilities. There are currently 17,500 MRI facilities worldwide and MRI is increasingly being used in healthcare diagnosis. The FerroGuard alarm system alerts staff to the presence of ferromagnetic objects before they are inadvertently taken into the MRI suite. The product was invented when the founders learnt of an accident in the US when a 6 year old child was hit on the head and killed when a ferrous cylinder was accidentally taken into the MRI room.

The second product line is based on a high technology innovation that precisely locates metallic objects within a patient. It provides a fast, accurate and inexpensive alternative to x-rays for the location of metals within the patient, displaying the exact 3-D location of the targets in real time.
