FerroGuard® Entryway and Gateway System
FerroGuard® is a highly flexible solution and in addition to being installed as a wall mounted system it can be used as part of a physical safety zone implementation. The FerroGuard® Entryway system shown here can be installed in front of the MRI door so that the alarm sounds well in advance of the MRI door being opened. This system is particularly recommended for very high field magnets or small MRI rooms where the high field extends well into the doorway. The system does not restrict access and is easily installed in most facilities.
In addition FerroGuard® is available as a Gateway system. In a report by
the American
College of Radiology (ACR) it has been recommended
that the MR site is divided into 4 zones.
Zone 1: Is the region including all areas that are freely accessible to the
general public
Zone 2: Is the interface region between the uncontrolled Zone 1 and the tightly
controlled Zones 3 and 4.
Zone 3: Is the region in which free access by unscreened non-MR personnel
or ferromagnetic objects could result in serious injury as a result of interactions
with the MR scanners environment.
Zone 4: Is the MR scanner magnet room itself.
In the report it is recommended that Zone 3 should be physically restricted
from general public access. Such a physical barrier can be implemented with
a FerroGuard® Gateway System as illustrated in the photographs opposite.
The system is designed for each individual MRI facility to fit into the local
layout.
